The Network of Community Cancer Support Centres is seeking over €5 million in funding from the Government in the upcoming Budget. The centres, which provide a range of free services to cancer patients and survivors, saw a 16% increase in demand in 2023, with 97,500 people accessing individual and group services. The centres require annual core funding to continue their work and meet the growing demand for their services. The National Cancer Strategy and the HSE National Service Plan highlight the importance of these centres in improving the quality of life of cancer patients. The Network is urging the Government to provide sustainable core funding annually to ensure their sustainability and capacity to respond to the needs of their clients.
