A pilot study presented at the 2024 annual meeting of the Pediatric Academic Societies in Toronto, Canada, demonstrated a telehealth-based approach to reducing repeat asthma visits in children. The study, called TEACHH, focused on educating children aged 5-13 with uncontrolled asthma using a tool kit that included visual aids and color-coded stickers for inhalers. The approach aimed to engage children actively in their asthma management. While the study was small and did not show a significant reduction in emergency department visits, larger trials are being planned to further evaluate the effectiveness of this approach. Overall, the study highlighted the importance of involving children in managing their asthma from a young age.
