Dr. Ashkan M. Abbey shared tips for performing sutureless intrascleral IOL fixation in eyes with poor capsular support at the Retina World Congress. He uses 27-gauge trocar cannulas to create scleral tunnels 180° apart to fixate a three-piece IOL in dislocated or aphakic eyes. He also discussed outcomes from a study of the first 488 eyes in which he performed the procedure. The presentation focused on a data-based approach to optimizing outcomes in this surgical technique.
