Low stress resilience in men may increase the risk of developing psoriasis or psoriatic arthritis, according to a study. The study analyzed data from 1,669,422 men who underwent mental assessments between 1968 and 2005. Results showed that men with low stress resilience had a 1.31-fold increased risk for psoriasis and a 1.23-fold increased risk for psoriatic arthritis compared to those with high stress resilience. The study suggests that individuals with low stress resilience may have an inherent psychological vulnerability and that psychological well-being should be considered when treating psoriasis patients. Stress may play an important role in psoriatic disease.
