A study by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases found that children who are introduced to peanut products during infancy and regularly consume them until the age of five have a reduced risk of developing peanut allergies in adolescence. The study showed that early introduction of peanuts can reduce the incidence of peanut allergy by 71%. The results come from the LEAP-Trio study, which built upon earlier trials that indicated early introduction of peanuts reduces the risk of allergy. The findings suggest that early introduction of peanut products can provide lasting protection from peanut allergies and prevent thousands of cases each year.
