A new study of over 2 million individuals across 168 countries found that internet use can enhance well-being, contrary to previous research suggesting a negative impact on mental health. Conducted between 2006 and 2021, the study assessed participants’ psychological well-being and internet use. Positive correlations were observed between internet connectivity and well-being, with active internet users reporting greater life satisfaction, positive experiences, social well-being, and physical well-being. The research aimed to address the lack of global and demographic scope in previous studies on the topic. While the study had limitations, it provides valuable insights into the effects of internet use on mental health.
