A study presented at the ASCO Annual Meeting found that men vaccinated for HPV have a lower risk of developing related cancers, especially head and neck cancer. This study reaffirmed previous data showing that women vaccinated for HPV also have a lower risk of cervical cancer. The study included over 5 million patients aged 9 to 39 and found that those who received the HPV vaccine had a reduced risk of developing all HPV-related cancers. Future studies could explore the impact of age at vaccination and the development of cancer following vaccination. These findings highlight the importance of HPV vaccination in preventing related cancers.
