A recent study found that getting tattoos may increase the risk of developing lymphoma, a rare form of cancer affecting the lymphatic system. While tattooing is a popular form of self-expression, known side effects include allergies, infections, and blood-borne diseases from tattoo equipment. The study involved over 11,000 participants, with 21% of those diagnosed with lymphoma having tattoos compared to 18% in the control group. The researchers found that the risk of lymphoma was 21% higher in those with tattoos, regardless of the tattoo size. Further research is needed to understand the relationship between tattoos and cancer. It is advised to seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms related to tattoos.
