Florida Allows Doctors To Perform C-Sections Outside of Hospitals

admin

Florida has become the first state to allow doctors to perform cesarean sections outside of hospitals, which is supported by a private equity-owned physicians group. This change aims to lower costs and provide pregnant women with a more homely birthing atmosphere. However, the hospital industry and leading obstetricians’ association are concerned that performing C-sections in doctor-run clinics will increase risks for women and babies when complications arise. The new law allows for the creation of “advanced birth centers” where physicians can deliver babies to low-risk women, but health experts are skeptical, citing concerns about safety and quality of care.
