Complaints have been growing about unauthorized enrollment schemes, where unscrupulous agents change coverage through private platforms integrated with the federal Obamacare marketplace. CMS is working on regulatory fixes and can suspend problem agents’ access to healthcare.gov. Wyden urges regulators to be more proactive in preventing fraud, contacting potentially affected consumers directly, and imposing civil penalties on fraudulent brokers. He also wants to review private-sector platforms used by agents.
