Colorectal cancer rates have dropped overall in the past 20 years, except for Americans under 45. The cases among young people have increased significantly, with a 333% rise in 15- to 19-year-olds and a 185% increase in 20- to 24-year-olds. While the absolute numbers are still low, experts are concerned about the trend. Symptoms like blood in the stool, stomach pain, and changes in bowel habits should not be ignored. Factors like genetics, lifestyle, and environment may contribute to the increase. Screening guidelines have been adjusted, and early detection and lifestyle changes are recommended to lower the risk of colorectal cancer.
