Canada’s colorectal cancer screening programs meet the International Agency for Research on Cancer’s criteria but vary in service delivery and quality assurance. Some programs don’t send invitations or include stool test kits in invitations, impacting screening participation. Collaborating with the Cancer Screening in Five Continents program, researchers compared Canada’s programs with 10 high-incidence countries. While all Canadian programs meet essential service criteria, there are differences in service delivery, information systems, and quality assurance. Improving collaboration, communication, and data collection could enhance program performance and increase participation in CRC screening, leading to better outcomes and reduced healthcare costs. Future research will measure screening performance quantitatively across provinces and territories.
