A study published in The Lancet Healthy Longevity tested a coach-supported mHealth intervention to reduce dementia risk factors in underserved populations. The intervention modestly improved the dementia risk score in the test group, with high adoption rates, but faced implementation challenges. Both the UK and China were involved in the trial, targeting populations with at least two risk factors. The intervention focused on self-management and coaching through an app, resulting in positive changes in risk factors like physical inactivity and smoking. The study highlights the need for larger, longer-term studies to assess the impact of such interventions on dementia prevention.
