Vitamin D Deficiency Linked To Increased Eczema Risk In Children: Study

admin

Vitamin D deficiency is linked to eczema in young children, according to a study by researchers from Chang Gung University in Taiwan. The study involved 222 children with and without atopic dermatitis, testing for vitamin D levels and allergen sensitization. Results showed that vitamin D deficiency was associated with a higher prevalence of eczema in children, especially at 2 and 4 years old. Food allergies, maternal atopy, and mite sensitization were identified as risk factors for eczema development in different age groups. The study highlights the importance of maintaining adequate vitamin D levels in children to reduce the risk of developing atopic dermatitis.
