Tranexamic acid may improve visualization, OR time for arthroscopic rotator cuff repair

A systematic review and meta-analysis of six randomized controlled trials showed that tranexamic acid improved visualization, operative time, and postoperative pain scores for patients undergoing arthroscopic rotator cuff repair. Researchers found that patients who received tranexamic acid had superior mean arthroscopic visual scores and lower postoperative pain scores compared to the control group. There was also a significant difference in operative time between the two groups. Further research is needed to determine the optimal dosing and administration route of tranexamic acid for these patients. No relevant financial disclosures were reported.
