Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, highlights the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Sudan, where half the population is in need of assistance. Over 8.6 million people are displaced, and 18 million face acute food insecurity. The health system is collapsing, with only 30% of facilities functional. Refugees in neighboring countries also face health challenges. WHO and partners have provided assistance, but more support is needed. The International Humanitarian Conference for Sudan prioritizes humanitarian access, respect for humanitarian law, and increased donor support. Without intervention, the crisis could worsen and affect the entire region.
