Brief behavioral therapy (BBT) is effective for pediatric patients with depression and anxiety, but does not outperform assisted referral to outpatient community care (ARC) for those with trauma exposure. Evidence-based psychotherapies have been developed to increase access to treatment for children with psychiatric disorders, but little is known about their effectiveness in those exposed to trauma. A study found that BBT was more effective than ARC for treating anxiety and depression in pediatric patients, except for those who were anxious, depressed, and had a history of trauma exposure. Study limitations include a small sample size and binary variable for trauma exposure.
