New Data Boost UroLift as Frontline Approach for BPH

admin

Men with lower urinary tract symptoms caused by an enlarged prostate may benefit more from a surgical implant called UroLift than from the commonly prescribed drug tamsulosin, according to new data presented at a urology congress. In a trial comparing the two treatments, men who received the UroLift implant reported greater improvements in urinary symptoms, ejaculatory and erectile function, as well as quality of life. While side effects such as burning and blood in the urine were more common with the implant, they generally resolved within 2 weeks. The study suggests that the UroLift implant may be a more effective first-line treatment for benign prostatic hyperplasia.
