A study presented at the American Academy of Neurology annual meeting found that location of residence was not associated with subjective cognitive decline in Black women. The research analyzed data from the Black Women’s Health Study, including 20,768 individuals. The Area Deprivation Index, used to measure neighborhood disadvantage, did not show any significant differences in subjective cognitive function across quintiles. The study suggests that the ADI may not be a reliable metric for assessing cognitive decline in Black women and that further research is needed to explore the role of education in influencing cognitive function in this population.
