The study, based on U.S. Medicare data, adjusted for various factors and found that access to healthcare resources did not fully explain the effect of socioeconomic status on outcomes. Researchers noted the need for further research to address health disparities and promote health equity. Efforts to improve neighborhoods with low socioeconomic status were recommended to narrow disparities in lung health.
