Researchers at UCL have developed innovative carbon beads that reduce bad bacteria and inflammation in animal models, which can lead to liver cirrhosis and other health issues. These carbon beads, known as CARBALIVE, have been shown to restore gut health and improve liver, kidney, and brain function in rats and mice. They have also been found to be safe for human use. If proven effective in humans, these carbon beads could be a new treatment for diseases related to poor gut health, such as liver disease. Further trials are planned to test their efficacy in humans.
