Children’s Hospital Los Angeles has launched Virtual Urgent Care, allowing children and young adults up to 21 years old to receive after-hours care for non-emergency illnesses or injuries via video meetings with CHLA providers. This service treats ailments like fever, respiratory infections, minor injuries, and more, providing prescriptions and discharge instructions when necessary. The hospital aims to improve patient access to care with this innovative telehealth service, as telehealth visits have increased significantly during the COVID-19 pandemic. CHLA is also conducting research on innovative treatments for pediatric cancer and offering advanced fetal cardiac care. Competitors in virtual urgent care include TelMDFirst and CVS Health’s MinuteClinic.
