In a clinical trial, 70% of participants experienced reductions in LDL cholesterol when consuming the blend, while other groups did not see reductions. The researchers provided participants with corn flour incorporated into baked goods, aiming to test a practical and realistic intervention. The study also found an increase in gut bacteria during the phase in which participants had whole-grain corn, suggesting that fiber and butyrate from whole grains are associated with a healthy gut.
