Texas abortion law was followed by a rise in infant deaths: study

admin

A new analysis published in JAMA Pediatrics found that since Texas implemented its abortion ban, infant deaths in the state increased by nearly 13%, compared to less than 2% in the rest of the country. Researchers attribute this increase to the restrictive SB 8 law, which prohibits abortions after about six weeks of pregnancy. The study also showed significant increases in infant deaths due to congenital abnormalities, maternal complications of pregnancy, and unintentional injuries. This underscores the impact of abortion restrictions on infant mortality and the need for policies that prioritize access to safe and legal abortion to prevent unnecessary deaths.
