Tirzepatide more effective in blood sugar control and body weight loss than semaglutide, shows meta-analysis

A new meta-analysis presented at the Annual Meeting of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes shows that tirzepatide is more effective than semaglutide in controlling blood sugar and promoting weight loss in patients with type 2 diabetes. The study combined data from 22 trials and found that tirzepatide reduced HbA1c levels more than semaglutide and resulted in greater weight loss. The highest dose of tirzepatide was associated with an increased risk of gastrointestinal adverse events compared to semaglutide. The authors conclude that tirzepatide is more effective than semaglutide for managing both blood sugar and weight loss in type 2 diabetes patients.
