Fall Fundraisers for ALS and Parkinson’s Disease
Let’s take a moment to talk about some of the amazing fundraisers coming up this fall! Our team will be participating in 3 that are very near and dear to us at SNR, and we hope you’ll join us!
First up is MDA’s Muscle Walk on Sunday, September 24th.
The Tulsa chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association is the organization that provides our monthly multidisciplinary ALS clinic that SNR takes part in. They offer many wonderful resources to local families with ALS and other types of MD including support groups, a medical equipment loaner bank, and much more. We hope that you’ll come out and support this great cause! We have joined the ALS Clinic Team with all of the other clinic providers, but I believe there is also a support group team that you may join instead of starting your own if you’d prefer that option. If you choose to do so, you may dog-ear your donation specifically to go toward ALS or another particular disease if there is a specific cause you’re wanting to support. Otherwise your funds will support the MDA organization as a whole, which again, is doing amazing things on all fronts! Here is the link to their page: MDA Muscle Walk.
Next up is the Walk to Defeat ALS through the ALS Association on Saturday, October 14th.
This is another organization supporting local families affected by ALS by providing different types of support and resources than MDA in the form of funding research, educational resources, and supplies. Please join us in supporting Oklahoma’s ALSA chapter, which is relatively new to our state. We have an SNR team create for this event that you’re welcome to join, or you can create your own here: ALSA Walk to Defeat ALS.
The FIRST annual Optimism Walk for Parkinson’s Disease in Tulsa is being held Saturday, October 21st!
We are so excited about this new APDA fundraiser! The American Parkinson Disease Association- OK Chapter does so many great things for local families affected by Parkinson’s disease. They offer educational classes, support groups, exercise classes, and much more. We are so happy to be able to support and work closely with them to best serve our patients’ needs and are excited about this newest fundraiser of theirs. We have an SNR team for the Optimism Walk and again would love for you to join or support our team, or you may create your own team here: Optimism Walk for Parkinson’s Disease .
If you’d like to support any of the above causes but are unable to attend the walk, you can still show support as a virtual walker by making an online or mailed donation to the event. If you have Parkinson’s disease or ALS and would like more information on the resources these organizations provide (or if you would like to inquire about volunteering or other ways to get plugged in), feel free to reach out to us and we can help point you in the right direction of who to contact.
Thank you for your interest in and support of the local families we have the pleasure of working with!
