LOS ANGELES — In this Healio Video Perspective from the ASCRS meeting, Brandon D. Ayres, MD, discusses the effectiveness and safety of a 27-gauge needle-tipped vitrector for pars plana anterior vitrectomy.

In 27 cases, vitreous was “adequately cleared” from the anterior chamber. The complication rate was low, Ayres said, with surgeons reporting satisfaction with the vitrector.

“In all cases, using the 1-Step needle-tip vitrector (Vista Ophthalmics) was as good or better than the equipment that they currently had,” he said.
