The Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America’s annual conference starts Sunday in the Sunshine State, a fitting locale considering this year’s themes of environmental impact and sustainability.
SHEA Spring, held at a golf resort just outside Orlando, arrives amid great change in public health and health care in the United States, as well as globally, and experts at the meeting are expected to discuss rapid changes to research, guidance, disease reporting and national laboratory availability.

The exclusively in-person meeting’s opening plenary and several sessions will be focused on sustainability in infection prevention and stewardship.
The conference will also cover epidemiology, antibiotic stewardship, long-term care, the usefulness of wastewater for disease surveillance, hand hygiene and clinical microbiology, among a wide range of other topics.
