SALT LAKE CITY — In this video, Christine Curcio, PhD, FARVO, discusses how her research into the role of drusen deposits in age-related macular degeneration may make earlier intervention possible.
“We’re firm believers of the idea that AMD can be beat on the front end,” Curcio, professor emerita, University of Alabama at Birmingham, said.
Curcio and Cynthia Owsley, PhD, MSPH, FARVO, the Nathan E. Miles Endowed Chair of Ophthalmology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, received a joint Proctor Medal for their research at this year’s Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology meeting.
