LOS ANGELES — Eyetelligence, a cloud-based cataract surgery planning platform, offers the opportunity to improve IOL power calculations and safety in the operating room, according to Mark C. Lobanoff, MD, ABO.
At the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery meeting, Lobanoff shared real-world cases in which Eyetelligence (Bausch + Lomb) helped avoid surgical mistakes. The platform prevented the wrong patient from being brought into the OR in one case and prevented the wrong IOL from being implanted in another.
“Eyetelligence has a phone app that allows you to scan a QR code for each patient so you know exactly which patient should be in the room at the time of surgery, preventing wrong patient errors,” Lobanoff told Healio.
