NATIONAL HARBOR, Md. — AI is “up and coming” across health care, and obesity medicine is no exception, according to Angela Fitch, MD, FACP, MFOMA.

In this video, Fitch, chief medical officer of knownwell and immediate past president of the Obesity Medicine Association, discusses her presentation on AI at Obesity Medicine 2025.

Some of the ways that AI is being used in obesity include personalizing behavior changes, enhancing nutritional counseling and monitoring eating habits. It is also being used to better understand the various phenotypes of obesity, Fitch told Healio.

“We’re trying at knownwell to sort that out a little bit and to try to get through some of that noise using artificial intelligence so we can deliver care at scale to more patients across the nation,” she said.
