A study explored the use of local vibration in combination with extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) to treat plantar fasciitis (PF), a condition characterized by severe heel pain. Researchers conducted a randomized controlled trial with 34 participants, splitting them into two groups: one receiving ESWT alone and the other receiving a combination of local vibration and ESWT. The results showed that the combination of local vibration and ESWT effectively reduced the thickness of the plantar fascia and heel pain. The study suggests that local vibration devices are a portable, inexpensive, and effective tool for reducing heel pain associated with PF.
