Their wearable device, ARMband, detects overdoses and alerts for help, potentially saving lives. The company has received support from the NIH and NIDA, and is conducting clinical studies for FDA approval. Ayuda Medical aims to secure additional funding, including from venture capital firms, and hopes to reduce drug overdoses in the long term. Despite efforts like naloxone distribution and harm reduction, the U.S. is still facing a major overdose crisis, with over 107,000 deaths in 2023.
