A recent study led by an international team from the University of California, Santa Barbara, found that fluctuations in daily testosterone levels do not have as much influence on sexual desire as previously thought. The study evaluated the connection between testosterone, sexual desire, and courtship efforts in young men and found that men with higher testosterone levels may show improved courtship behaviors. However, there was no evidence of a significant, positive relationship between testosterone and desire. Additionally, cortisol levels were also measured, showing that both testosterone and cortisol concentrations were higher in single men, with higher sexual desire in partnered men and greater courtship efforts in single men.
