President Joe Biden and leaders from Australia, India, and Japan launched the Quad Cancer Moonshot Initiative aiming to reduce cervical cancer in the Indo-Pacific region. The initiative focuses on achieving the WHO recommendation of vaccinating 90% of girls with the HPV vaccine, which effectively prevents cervical cancer. The U.S. Navy will provide support for screenings and vaccine delivery, while India will manufacture and distribute the vaccines and Japan will offer technological support. Despite global efforts, some countries have low HPV vaccination rates due to misinformation and myths. To address this, there is a need for increased research, vaccine availability, and healthcare system strengthening to eliminate cervical cancer deaths.
