A recent study found that women with a history of endometriosis and uterine fibroids are at an increased risk of early death, particularly from gynecological cancers. Endometriosis affects 10% of women and causes symptoms like severe period pain and infertility, while fibroids are noncancerous growths on the uterine walls leading to heavy menstrual bleeding and back pain. The study analyzed over 110,000 women and found that those with endometriosis had a 31% higher risk of premature death. The researchers urge healthcare providers to consider these conditions for women’s overall health assessment, although caution should be taken due to the study’s limitations.
