Junior doctors in Ireland are planning to ballot for industrial action in response to an HSE recruitment freeze. Last year, 97% of doctors voted in favor of industrial action to address dangerous working conditions. The freeze will prevent the hiring of extra doctors, leading to longer shifts and increased stress. In response to the recruitment freeze, HSE management and admin staff plan to stop answering phone calls and emails as part of ongoing work-to-rule actions. Trade union Fórsa has instructed its members to participate in rolling bans on phone and email communication. The HSE has announced a pause in hiring junior doctors and agency staff to control costs.
