A second health worker who cared for a person with H5N1 bird flu in Missouri developed mild respiratory symptoms but was not tested for influenza, according to the CDC. Missouri health officials were unaware of the symptoms until after the individual had recovered. This is the second possible case associated with the confirmed case that came to light late. Still unknown how the individual contracted H5N1, with no reported infected dairy cattle in Missouri. The CDC is conducting further testing on blood samples to confirm infections. Efforts are being made to investigate the spread of the virus among humans.
