Researchers have found a link between consuming foods rich in flavonoids and a lower risk of developing dementia, with a 28% reduction in risk. The study involved over 100,000 participants and found that a diet high in flavonoids from foods like tea, red wine, and berries was associated with a decreased risk of dementia, especially in those with a high genetic risk or symptoms of depression. Flavonoids, found in plant-based foods, have numerous health benefits, including reducing the risk of chronic diseases and improving cognitive function. The researchers suggest that increasing daily consumption of flavonoid-rich foods could be a simple measure to lower dementia risk globally.
