A study found that low-dose interleukin-2 therapy showed positive results in treating bullous pemphigoid, with an early onset of response compared to corticosteroids alone. Patients treated with IL-2 had fewer days to disease control and a significant expansion of Treg cells in the first 2 weeks of treatment. The study included 20 patients in a control group receiving corticosteroids and 23 patients in the treatment group receiving corticosteroids with low-dose IL-2 every other day. Results showed quicker disease control and reduced need for corticosteroids in the treatment group, with no serious adverse events reported.
