At the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, health care issues received little attention despite being a significant part of the federal budget and economy. The lack of focus reflects Trump’s sensitivity to the topic after a failed attempt to repeal Obamacare in 2017. Instead, speakers emphasized inflation, crime, and immigration, linking it to health issues like the opioid crisis. The GOP platform, aligned with Trump’s views, promises to protect Medicare and expand veterans’ health care choices. Abortion, once a major topic for Republicans, is now barely mentioned in the platform. Vaccine skepticism has grown in the Republican Party since the pandemic.
