Researchers of a new study found that a balanced diet is linked to better cognitive function and mental health. The study, involving 181,990 UK Biobank participants, examined the association between food choices and brain health. Four dietary subtypes were identified, with the balanced group scoring highest in brain health indicators. Participants in this group had better cognitive function and mental health compared to those on low-carb, vegetarian, or high protein/low-fiber diets. The study highlights the importance of educating people about healthy eating for long-term brain health. Limitations include reliance on food-liking data and potential oversimplification of mental health assessment measures.
