The NIDUS-Family package of care and support focuses on helping people with dementia and their family caregivers attain their personal goals. The package can be delivered by phone, video call, or in person and aims to help the recipient meet their own individual goals, including increasing activity, improving mood, sleep, and appetite, enhancing relationships, and improving caregiver support and well-being. Participants in a clinical trial of the treatment experienced better outcomes compared to those who received their usual care. The new therapy has the potential to be rolled out across the NHS and increases the potential for dementia patients to live independently for longer.
