Data from children aged 4-5 and 10-11 revealed a prevalence increase in overweight and obesity during the pandemic, with long-term healthcare costs estimated to be in the millions. The study called for social justice and equity in addressing childhood obesity and recommended government action to improve children’s health, including implementing policies for healthier food, minimizing advertising of unhealthy products, and reversing disparities in childhood obesity.
