Recruitment freeze holding up the hiring of promised neurology nurses

The HSE recruitment freeze is delaying the hiring of almost two-thirds of the specialist neurology nurses promised by the Government. The Neurological Alliance of Ireland highlighted the impact of this freeze on the delivery of neurology services across various regions in the country. They called for funds to be released to allow for these employments, as well as additional consultant neurology posts to support hospitals. The NAI also emphasized the need for longer-term community neurorehabilitation services and highlighted the shortage of inpatient specialist rehabilitation beds in Ireland. They called for the HSE to deliver an action plan to address these challenges.
