Obesity and high-fat diets linked to accelerated aging in brain blood vessels

Obesity is linked to cognitive decline and dementia in mid-life and beyond. The study found that a high-fat diet increased cellular senescence in blood vessel cells in the brain, leading to impaired memory performance. Removing senescent cells improved brain vasculature, suggesting potential for mitigating obesity-related cognitive decline. Further research will explore lifestyle interventions to prevent cognitive impairment from obesity.
