Many Medical Trainees Ignorant of the Dangers of Vaping and Hookah Use

Medical students and physicians in training have inaccurate perceptions and biases towards e-cigarettes and hookah use, as highlighted in a study published in Respiratory Care. The study found that a significant number of medical trainees are unaware of the health risks associated with these products, relying on unreliable sources of information such as social media and lacking confidence in discussing the topic with patients. The survey included participants from the US, India, and Brazil, revealing high rates of e-cigarette and hookah use among medical trainees. The study identified a lack of knowledge and misconceptions among medical trainees regarding the risks of vaping and hookah use, highlighting the need for improved education on these topics.
