Early Death, Heart Disease, And Cancer

Researchers conducted an extensive review linking ultra-processed food to 32 health issues, including diabetes, heart disease, mental health problems, cancer, and premature death. These foods undergo industrial processes and contain additives like sugar, fat, and salt. They make up a significant portion of daily energy intake in high-income countries and have become more common in low and middle-income nations. The study, involving almost 10 million participants, found strong associations between ultra-processed food consumption and negative health outcomes. Urgent public health measures are recommended to reduce consumption of these foods and improve overall population health.
