Rapid increases in insulin post-meal are beneficial for long-term cardiometabolic health. These findings challenge concerns around elevated insulin levels and metabolic health. Research from Toronto, published in eClinicalMedicine, shows more robust insulin responses after a meal are linked to improved beta cell function and lower risk of prediabetes or diabetes. The study followed 306 women for 4 years and found that higher insulin responses were associated with better metabolic outcomes after accounting for other factors.
