UK’s National Screening Committee endorses digital pathology for cancer screening

The UK National Screening Committee (UK NSC) supports the use of digital pathology as a substitute for light microscopy in reviewing cancer screening histopathology slides. Digital pathology allows pathologists to view glass slides on a computer screen instead of through a microscope. The UK NSC believes that digital pathology can improve accuracy and efficiency in cancer screening. This endorsement opens the door for the widespread adoption of digital pathology in cancer screening programs in the UK.
